Women's Lacrosse Takes the Big Green Bus Around Dublin

June 9, 2008

DUBLIN, IRELAND - The George Mason women's lacrosse team has embarked on a nine-day trip to England, Ireland and Scotland, touring the countries together and competing against some of the world's best teams. Jenny Tran recaps the Patriots tour of Dublin on Sunday.

Today we took the Big Green Bus and toured Dublin. We purchased a 24-hour bus pass that took us to most of the main attractions in the city. Our first "hop-off" was at the Guinness Brewery for a tour of the Eight Wonder Beer World.

After the brewery tour, we went to O'Neill's Pub for a buffet lunch. There was so much food. Everybody was stuffed after our meal. Next, we were given a free afternoon to explore Dublin. We took the bus and stopped at major landmarks including Trinity College, St. Patrick's Cathedral, Dublin Castle, Kilmainham Jail and the Museum of Modern Art.

The library at Trinity College is famous for the Book of Kells. Even though we were not allowed to take pictures inside, the experience was a once in a lifetime opportunity. I was amazed at how old the books were and what good shape they were still in. There was such a long wait for the tour, but it was worth it. At St. Patrick's Cathedral, we took pictures. It was beautiful inside and out. We continued to stop by all of the other main attractions and then headed back to the hotel.
