Fairfax, Va.-- The George Mason University athletic teams have joined together to assist Hurricane Katrina victims through fundraising efforts during the weekend of September 30 to October 2. The Patriot student-athletes will collect donations at the men's soccer game against VCU on Friday, September 30 at 7 p.m., and the women's soccer game against James Madison on Sunday, October 2 at 1 p.m. In addition, the Patriots soccer head coaches Greg Andrulis and Diane Drake will team up to conduct a soccer clinic from 1-2:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 1.

The 1 ½ hour clinic will be conducted on the athletic practice fields on the main campus of George Mason University. A $25 fee will be asked of all participants and the money raised will be divided between the Salvation Army and the Red Cross to benefit the people of the devastated region.

The mission of the clinics is to provide quality instruction in a fun, positive environment and to team-up to assist in helping the victims of this terrible disaster. We encourage players of all ages and abilities to attend, as the majority of each session will consist of skill development and small side games.

Anyone wishing to register for the clinics should arrive at the George Mason Field House, beginning at noon. Please bring necessary equipment, including shinguards, cleats, water bottle and soccer ball. The clinics will take place rain or shine, but the time will move to 3-4:30 p.m. and into the George Mason Field House if the outdoor session is cancelled due to the weather.
